§ 36.73 TEMPORARY APPOINTMENTS.
Whenever a department requires temporary assistance because of a special project or temporary increase in the work load, temporary appointments can be made from an appropriate eligibility list for the duration of such unusual work. If an employee is off duty without pay and needs to be replaced, a temporary appointment can be made for the duration of the leave of absence. The acceptance or rejection by an eligible candidate of a temporary appointment shall not affect his/her standing on the eligibility list, nor shall the period of temporary service be counted as a part of the probationary service in case of subsequent permanent appointment.
