(A) Salary when promoted. When an employee is promoted to a classification carrying a higher pay range, his compensation should be fixed at the rate in his new class next higher than that of his old class. In cases involving promotion of employees on dual classification or special assignments, consult the Civil Service Commission.
(B) Salary when reclassified. When an employee is reclassified, his compensation should be fixed at the same rate as in his former classification, if such rate exists, otherwise at the next higher rate than his previous rate.
(C) Salary when changing classification by open exam. If an employee goes from one classification to another which has a higher maximum rate, by open competitive examination, and his current pay rate is already within the range of the new class, his pay shall be set at the next higher rate. For this purpose, present payment of shift differential or other premiums based on working conditions will not be considered. If any employee moves to a classification which has the same or lower maximum rate, he shall not be given an increase.
