SEC. 6.03 FIRE DEPARTMENT.
   A Municipal Fire Department may be organized by Council. If and when such department is established, it shall have the function of providing all fire protection and life squad service within the Municipality. The department shall be under the direction of a Fire Chief who shall report to the Manager for administrative purposes. The appointment and removal of all members of the Fire Department, including the Fire Chief, shall be made by the Manager with the consent of Council, subject to the requirements of the Civil Service provisions where applicable.
    The operating rules and procedures shall be established by the Manager with the consent of Council. Council shall have the power to contract with one or more townships, municipal corporations, or private fire companies, to render or receive fire protection and life squad service.
   The agreement with the Forest Park Volunteer Fire Department Inc., as presently existing or hereinafter amended or extended, shall continue in force until Council establishes other arrangements for fire protection and life squad service.
