§ 31.37  BUILDING OFFICIAL.
   (A)   The city hereby establishes the office of the Building Official. This office shall be under the jurisdiction of the Building Official. The Building Official shall be employed by the city on a contractual basis, and shall serve as Building Code Official and architectural and engineering consultant to the city. He shall meet the qualifications required by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The Building Official may also hold other public or private employment.
   (B)   The duties and responsibilities of the office of the Building Official shall include, but are not limited to, the following:
      (1)   Provide enforcement and administration of the city building regulations and sign ordinances.
      (2)   Render advice on architectural, engineering and construction questions affecting the city, whenever requested to do so by any city official.
      (3)   Draft or supervise the phraseology of ordinances covering building regulations, signs and other areas related to architecture, engineering or construction.
   (C)   No person shall be appointed or act as the Building Official unless such person has taken the oath required by Section 228 of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and conditioned upon performance of the duties specified herein.
   (D)   The Building Official shall report to the Mayor.
