§ 36.12  DIVISION OF POLICE.
   (A)   There is hereby established a Division of Police for the city which shall be responsible for enforcement and maintenance of law and order and compliance with traffic regulations within the corporate boundaries of the city in accordance with policies and guidelines established by the City Commission.
   (B)   The Chief of Police shall be the chief administrative officer of the Division of Police and shall select such personnel as are authorized by the City Commission and shall assign their duties and hours and shall direct and supervise their work.  All Division of Police personnel shall be appointed in accordance with the personnel rules or administrative code of the city.
   (C)   Additional police officers as may be appointed to the Division of Police shall be appointed for a term of office not to exceed 12 months.  Qualifications for members of the Division of Police shall be such as set forth in the Kentucky Revised Statutes.  The City Commission shall fix the salary for each position in the Division of Police.
