Local law enforcement will conduct the background check within 2 days of receipt of a completed application with acceptable identification. The Chief of Police or his or her designee shall approve or deny the application after reviewing the application for solicitation permit and background check.
(A) Providing incomplete or misleading information, misrepresenting the facts on the application, or refusing to provide requested application information are sufficient reasons for refusing the issuance of a permit.
(B) The Police Chief or his or her designee has the authority to deny or revoke a permit for "just" cause.
(C) Conduct inappropriate for door-to-door solicitation such as intimidation, yelling, trying to pressure, coerce or harass residents, preying on particular groups such as the elderly, or soliciting in legally posted "No Soliciting" residential or commercial areas, and the like are sufficient reasons for revocation of a solicitation permit and may subject the solicitor to ordinance violation charges by local law enforcement.
