(A) The city is authorized to accept referrals from the Circuit Court and District Court for community service work in accordance with KRS 533.070 and in accordance with the provisions of this chapter and regulations implemented hereunder.
(B) The Mayor, or the Mayor's designee from the Police Department, shall approve or disapprove in writing, the defendant's referral for community service work. No defendant shall have automatic or guaranteed acceptance by the city for community service work. The Mayor or the Mayor's designee from the Police Department may reject any community service work referral, except that no defendant shall be rejected on the grounds of race, religion, gender, age or disability.
(C) The Mayor, or the Mayor's designee from the Police Department, shall maintain records of community service work referrals, and the Mayor, or the Mayor's designee from the Police Department, shall make a report at the regular monthly City Council meeting regarding the number of community service referrals accepted for work during the preceding month, the number of community service hours rendered for the preceding month, and the public projects and activities for which community service workers were assigned.
