(A) The city hereby establishes the office of the Utilities Superintendent.
(B) The Utilities Superintendent is responsible for the proper maintenance of the physical plant of the city, including but not limited to all gas, water, and sewer lines and the sewage and water treatment plants. The Utilities Superintendent is responsible for the supervision of all maintenance or construction of the physical plan, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations for water and sewage treatment, and shall perform whatever other duties and/or functions may at times be seen as necessary for the proper operation of the city.
(C) Compensation shall be in the amount as established by the City Council from time to time as set forth in § 31.02.
(D) No person shall be appointed or act as the Utilities Superintendent unless such person has taken the oath required by Section 228 of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and has provided bond, if required, with corporate surety authorized to transact business in Kentucky and conditioned upon the performance of the duties specified herein.
