§ 72.54 DUTIES OF POLICE.
   It shall be the duties of the police officers of the city, acting with instructions issued by the Mayor, to report the following:
   (A)   In the case of metered zones, the number of each parking meter which indicated that the vehicle occupying the parking space adjacent to the parking meter is or has been parked in violation of any of the provisions of this chapter.
   (B)   The state license number, if any, of the vehicle parked in violation of the provisions of this chapter.
   (C)   The length of time during which the vehicle is parked in violation of any of the provisions of this chapter.
   (D)   Any other facts, a knowledge of which is necessary to a thorough understanding of the circumstances attending the violation. Each police officer shall attach to the vehicle a notice to the owner or operator thereof that the vehicle has been parked in violation of a provision of this chapter and instructing the owner or operator thereof that the vehicle has been parked in violation of a provision of this chapter and instructing the owner or operator to report at the office of the Police Department of the city in regard to the violation. Each owner or operator may, within 48 hours of the time when the notice was attached to the vehicle, pay the City Clerk's office as a penalty for and in full satisfaction of the violation, the sum of $5.00. The failure of the owner or operator to make the payment within 48 hours shall render the owner or operator subject to the penalties hereinafter provided for violation of the provisions of this chapter.
