Whenever the Supervisor of Streets shall decide, from any examination of the application and from such other information as he or she may obtain, that the sum of $100 is not sufficient as a guarantee fund for ample protection of the city against the probable damages and expenses that may be caused by the removal of such building, he or she is hereby authorized to require the deposit of a larger sum than $100 but not to exceed $500.
