135.05 TOWNSHIPS ADJACENT TO CITY.
   (a)   Contracts to Use City Streets and Water System. The Director of Public Service-Safety is authorized to enter into a contract or contracts with the township trustees of any township providing fire protection for townships adjacent to the City, whereby such fire departments are given the right to operate their equipment on the public thoroughfares of the City in the same manner as other emergency vehicles, and are given the right to connect to the fire plugs served by the City water system, whether such fire plugs are within or outside the City limits.
   (b)   Payment Provisions per Fire Plug. The Director of Public Service-Safety shall determine the rates for the use of each fire plug which the township fire departments desire to use, and these rates shall be included in the contracts specified in subsection (a) hereof. The charges shall be paid to the City by January 31 for the ensuing calendar year, and the township fire department shall notify the Fire Department of the City of any connection prior to, or immediately after the connection is made.
