957.09 EQUIPMENT, SUPPLIES, AND SANITARY PRACTICES REQUIREMENTS.
   (a)   Each ambulance in service or on standby status shall be equipped with First Aid equipment and stocked with all medical supplies required by the State of Ohio, pursuant to Chapter 4766 of the Ohio Administrative Code.
   (b)   Advanced Life Support. In addition to all other supplies prescribed in this Section, the following equipment and supplies shall be stocked in each Primary Unit and Standby Unit capable of Advanced Life Support [ALS]: cardiac monitor and defibrillator; any other equipment, supplies, or medications specified or recommended by the Medical Director.
   (c)   Safety Equipment. Each ambulance shall carry at minimum the following safety equipment: two 15-minute road flares of an approved type, one red warning flag, one 3-cell flashlight, one 5-pound portable CO2 type fire extinguisher, one 5-pound portable dry chemical fire extinguisher, one heavy-duty automotive jack, one medium-sized wrecking bar and 100’ of 3/8” or ½” nylon rope.
   (d)   Linens and Blankets. Each ambulance shall be stocked with sheets, blankets, and pillowcases of an easily cleaned material, preferably cotton. Extra linens shall be stored in clean, dustproof containers.
   (e)   Sanitary Practices.
      (1)   All vehicles, equipment, and supplies shall be maintained in a sanitary manner.
      (2)   All linens shall be changed after each use and laundered before reuse. Blankets shall be changed frequently enough to keep them clean and sanitary. After use in communicable disease cases, blankets shall be laundered before reuse.
      (3)   Each ambulance and rescue unit shall be stocked with Personal Protective Equipment [PPE] in sufficient quantities to shield emergency response personnel and victims.
      (4)   Each ambulance shall be stocked with one bedpan and one urinal, which shall be securely stored after each use and sanitized as soon as possible after the emergency call has concluded.
