133.05 NEIGHBORHOOD ENHANCEMENT AND ABATEMENT TEAM PROGRAM.
(a) The Director of Public Safety is hereby designated commander of the Neighborhood Enhancement & Abatement Team Program. In his capacity as commander of the Neighborhood Enhancement & Abatement Team, the Director of Public Safety or his designee has the power to enforce any ordinances of the City of Findlay, statute of the State of Ohio, or regulation contained in the Ohio Administrative Code, relating to nuisance abatement or fire or other health and safety code violation. This Section specifically authorizes the Director of Public Safety or his designee to order condemnation proceedings under any ordinance of the City of Findlay, statute of the State of Ohio, or regulation contained in the Ohio Administrative Code, relating to nuisance abatement or fire or other health and safety code violations.
(b) The Director of Public Safety upon recommendation of the Chief of Police is hereby authorized to confer special police powers on persons assigned to the Neighborhood Enhancement & Abatement Team for the purpose of enforcing any ordinance of the City of Findlay, statute of the State of Ohio, or regulation contained in the Ohio Administrative Code, relating to nuisance abatement or fire of other health or safety code violation. Police powers to be conferred upon persons assigned to the Neighborhood Enhancement & Abatement Team do not include peace officer powers of arrest or the carrying of a firearm. Police powers conferred under this Section specifically include the power to order any nuisance abated pursuant to any ordinance of the City of Findlay, statute of the State of Ohio, or regulation contained in the Ohio Administrative Code, relating to nuisance abatement or fire or other health or safety code violation. Police powers conferred under this Section are in force only while persons granted such powers are on duty with the Neighborhood Enhancement & Abatement Team. The Director of Public Safety is further authorized to revoke such police powers conferred under this Section at any time, as he/she deems necessary and appropriate. (Ord. 2010-021. Passed 4-20-10.)
