There is hereby created and established a voluntary Fire Department, consisting of a Chief, and such other members as may from time to time be provided for by the bylaws of the Fire Department. Except as provided in this chapter, the Fire Chief and members shall be appointed in the manner provided by the bylaws of the Fire Department. The department shall be part of the County Fire District, but shall remain accountable to the City Council. The City Council shall have authority to override the department's bylaws and remove the Fire Chief by two-thirds (2/3) majority of the City Council. (1995 Code § 3-1-101)
