The city hereby establishes a fee, in an amount to be set by City Council ordinance from time to time, for each background check of an individual made pursuant to the federal statute enacted in 1994 or as subsequently amended and commonly known as the Brady Act. The Chief of Police of the city shall be responsible for conducting those background checks and shall collect the fees.
