§ 53.26 LIABILITY.
   (A)   Each user or owner shall be responsible for cleaning the sewer connection from the house or building to the sewer main. The city shall maintain the sewer main and interceptor lines as well as the service pipe installed within its public right-of-way. The city shall not be liable for any stoppages in the sewers or services. Each user should provide a suitable back water valve to prevent flooding of basements in the event of sewer stoppage.
   (B)   (1)   Any sewer connection that is abandoned for non-use or found not to meet all requirements of this subchapter shall be disconnected and plugged at the sewer location by a means acceptable to the City Engineer.
      (2)   All costs and expenses incidental to disconnecting the building sewer shall be borne by the owner.
