§ 52.15 EXCAVATION FOR TAPPING.
   Excavation made for the purpose of making a tap from the city water mains shall be at least eight feet deep or adequately protected from freezing, safely curbed, sloped and/or shored to OSHA guidelines and to the satisfaction of city employee doing the tap or inspection. In case the excavation is improperly curbed, sloped and/or shored, the tap or inspection shall not be made until the excavation, clear space and curbing are proper and safe. Ample clear space shall be allowed around the main in all cases to insert the tapping machine.
