§ 33.11 INAPPROPRIATE INFLUENCE.
   (A)   The role of a public official is to exercise his or her judgment to further the best interests of the City of Fergus Falls. For an appointed public officials and city employees this includes making recommendations and provide policy options to elected public officials. Once the City Council sets policy, the job of a appointed public official and city employee is to implement the policy in good faith, regardless of his or her personal views.
   (B)   A public official or an employee or business associate of a public official shall not inappropriately influence or attempt to influence the exercise of professional judgment of any employee of the City of Fergus Falls. Examples of inappropriate influence by a public official include asking or ordering a city employee to:
      (1)   Violate this Code of Ethics or an applicable code of professional responsibility under which the employee operates;
      (2)   Do a special favor or make an exception for a constituent or other individual or organization contrary to existing law or adopted City policy; or
      (3)   Misrepresent a recommendation to other public officials.
