The Chief of Police, subject to the statutory authority of the Mayor, shall be head of the Police Department and the commanding officer of the police force of the Town. The Chief of Police shall be responsible for the administration, training, discipline and morale of the personnel of the Police Department and for their effective and efficient employment to prevent crime, apprehend law violators, maintain law and order and enforce State law, the Codified Ordinances and other ordinances within the Town. The Chief of Police, prior to being employed by the Town, shall be a certified police officer in the State of West Virginia.
