(A) (1) All consumers using toxic or hazardous liquids, all hospitals, mortuaries, wastewater treatment plants, laboratories and all other hazardous users shall install and maintain a reduce-pressure principle backflow preventer in the main water line serving each building on the premises.
(2) The backflow preventer must be installed in an easily accessible location not subject to flooding or freezing.
(B) Plants or facilities as listed need a backflow prevention device:
(1) Auxiliary water systems;
(2) Beverage bottling plants;
(3) Aircraft and missile plants;
(4) Breweries;
(5) Buildings, hotels, apartment houses;
(6) Public and private or any other structures having unprotected cross-connections, with the exception of single-family residential structures with existing cross-connection. All single-family residential structures that develop cross-connection after passage of this subchapter will be subject to this section, and said devices will be provided by the town;
(7) Carwash facilities;
(8) Chemical plants, manufacturing, processing, compounding or treatment;
(9) Chemical-contaminated water systems;
(10) Fire systems;
(11) Mortuaries, autopsy facilities;
(12) Irrigation systems, premises having separate systems, playgrounds, cemeteries;
(13) Laundries and dye works;
(14) Metal manufacturing, cleaning, processing and fabrication plants;
(15) Oil and gas production, storage or transmission properties;
(16) Power plants, restricted, classified or other closed facilities;
(17) Sand and gravel plants; and
(18) Sewage and storm drain facilities.
