§ 39.35 WHO MUST FILE.
The following classes of officers and employees of the city and city agencies shall file an annual statement of financial interests with the Board of Ethics:
   (A)   Elected city officials.
   (B)   Candidates for elected city office.
   (C)   Members of any city planning and zoning commission and board of adjustment.
   (D)   Nonelected officers and employees of the city or any city agency who are authorized to make purchases of materials or services, or award contracts, leases or agreements involving the expenditure of more than $2,500.
Notwithstanding this section, the requirement to file financial disclosure statements shall not apply to elected city officials for the balance of their current terms. Should any of the current officeholders announce for re-election then they shall be required to comply with this section. This exemption for the balance of current terms is to avoid potential wholesale resignations, as a protest against increasing criteria for largely gratuitous public service midway in a term.
