§ 154.170 PURPOSE.
   It is the purpose of this chapter, including the following dimensional and other design standards, to promote the public health, safety, and general welfare of the residents of the Town of Fairmont. In accordance with G.S. Chapter 160D, the Town of Fairmont may adopt zoning regulations to regulate and restrict the following:
   (A)   Number of stories, and size of buildings and other structures;
   (B)   The percentage of lots that may be occupied;
   (C)   The size of yards, courts, and other open spaces;
   (D)   The density of population;
   (E)   The location and use of buildings, structures, and land.
   (F)   The height, bulk, orientation, or location of a structure on a zoning lot; and
   (G)   The use of buffering or screening to minimize visual impacts, to mitigate the impacts of light and noise, or to protect the privacy of neighbors.
