The Archives and Artifacts Historical Commission shall be composed of five (5) electors of the community to be appointed by the Mayor to terms of three (3) years retroactive to January 1, 2006.
(a) Upon the establishment of the Commission, Commission members shall be appointed initially for the following terms of office:
(1) Three (3) of the five (5) appointed Commission members shall serve for a term of three (3) years; and
(2) Two (2) of the five (5) appointed Commission members shall serve for a term of two (2) years.
(b) When an initial term of office expires, each new Commission appointment is for a term of three (3) years.
(c) Terms of Commission members shall start on a common date; however each Commission member's term expires on the first Monday of January after the expiration of the Commission member's respective appointment.
(d) A member of the Commission shall serve until his or her successor is appointed and qualified (qualified meaning to accept the appointment). A member is eligible for reappointment at the conclusion of his or her Commission term.
(e) Within thirty (30) days following the expiration of the term of any appointed Commission member, a successor shall be appointed by the appropriate appointing authority. The appointed successor shall serve for a term of three (3) years. Should a Commission member resign or be removed from the Commission, a successor shall be appointed by the appropriate appointing authority and shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term.
(f) Commission members shall serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority.
