404.01   COMPLIANCE WITH LAWFUL ORDERS; FLEEING; EMERGENCIES. (RECODIFIED IN PART)

   (c)   Police officer shall, whenever conditions require it, direct traffic in accordance with the provisions of the Traffic Code. Police officers and members of the Fire Division are hereby authorized, in the event of fire or other emergency or in the safeguarding or expediting of traffic, to direct traffic otherwise than as this Traffic Code specifically provides. The direction of traffic may be by word or audible signal, by gesture or visible signal or by any combination thereof or any intelligible substitute therefor.
