(A) Pursuant to the provisions of the Illinois Municipal Code, a non-home rule municipality may create a Code Hearing Department (commonly referred to as a “Municipal Court”)for the consideration and disposition of alleged violations of the city's ordinances. (See ILCS Ch. 65 Act 5, §§ 1-2.2-1 et seq.).
(B) The City Council has determined that it would be in the best interest of the public for establish a Municipal Court pursuant to the said provisions of the Illinois Municipal Code.
