For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
DOMICILE WASTE. Any refuse generated on a single-family domiciliary property as a result of domiciliary activities. The term includes landscape waste, but excludes garbage and trade waste.
FIRE PIT APPARATUS. A structure that is no larger than four feet in diameter, with a maximum depth of 12 inches below ground level, and a height not exceeding two feet from ground level; and that is surrounded by masonry stone (which would be bricks, concrete blocks or rock).
GARBAGE. Refuse resulting from the handling, processing, preparation, cooling and consumption of food or food products.
LANDSCAPE WASTE. Any vegetable or plant refuse, except garbage. The term includes stumps, brush, weeds, leaves, grass, shrubbery, yard trimmings and crop residues.
OPEN BURNING. The combustion of any matter in a way that the products of the combustion are emitted to the open air without originating in or passing through equipment for which a permit could be issued under § 9(b) of the Environmental Protection Act, Ill. Rev. Stat. Ch. 111-1/2, § 1009(b).
PORTABLE FIREPLACE. A commercially prefabricated appliance such as a clay chimenea or a metal outdoor fireplace. All parts for such appliance, including, but not limited to, the screen, lid, and grate must be used according to the manufacturer's direction.
RECREATIONAL FIRE. A fire set for cooking, enjoyment, or ceremonial purposes.
REFUSE. Any discarded matter; or any matter which is to be reduced in volume, or otherwise changed in chemical or physical properties, in order to facilitate its discard, removal or disposal.
RESTRICTED AREAS. The area within the boundaries of the city, plus a zone extending one mile beyond the boundaries of the city.
TRADE WASTE. Any refuse resulting from the prosecution of any trade, business, industry, commercial venture, utility or service activity, and any government or institutional activity, whether or not for profit. The term includes landscape waste but excludes agricultural waste. The term excludes dimensional lumber, plywood and particle board.
