APPENDIX A: SERVICE TYPES
   OVERHEAD SERVICE TYPE I
 
   Residential Service Entrance
   Meter installation must clear telephone wire and downspouts, two feet minimum, and be placed beyond reach from all windows and doors. Unless otherwise noted, all wiring materials are to be furnished and installed by the customer. All service entrance wiring must conform to the National Electrical Code and Local Electrical Code in force at the time the service is installed.
      1.   Weatherproof service cap (weatherhead) must extend above service wires (by customer).
      2.   Galvanized rigid steel conduit is to be used. Minimum size is two inches. Thin wall conduit is not permissible. (Rigid aluminum conduit is permitted where entirely exposed.)
      3.   Ground rod driven not less than eight feet into ground (by customer).
      4.   One-half inch galvanized steel pipe. Do not use elbow or unions in this pipe. Pipe must be bent (by customer). NOTE: three and four shall be steel pipe (water pipe is recommended) which is not sherardized, painted or coated.
      5.   Wedge-type ground clamp. Clamp and two wedges (furnished by customer).
      6.   Conduit straps (by customer).
      7.   L.B.C. galvanized fitting having one-half inch bottom outlet.
      8.   Detachable meter in meter socket, furnished by the city.
      9.   Galvanized locknuts. One on outside of switch box and one on inside of switch box. They must be drawn up tight against switch box, with sharp edges of locknuts against switch box (furnished by customer).
      10.   Galvanized conduit bonding type bushing (furnished by customer).
      11.   Service entrance switch, fuse or circuit breaker box. Service entrance box must have a solid grounded neutral. Use bonding screw to bond neutral bus to the metal cabinet. Box will be sized to service, and will include protective device and disconnecting means and individual circuit protection (furnished by customer).
      12.   Copper insulated stranded wire. (Aluminum conductor or equivalent size is not recommended but may be used with correct application of contax grease.) Approximately three feet of conductor will extend from weatherhead. All conductors should be the same size. (Neutral size may be reduced up to 30% where load is sufficiently balanced to conform to National Electrical Code and local codes permit.)

   TEMPORARY OVERHEAD SERVICE
 
   Items to Be Furnished by Customer
   (A)   Four inch by four inch timber or equal. Timber acceptable only for temporary installations. For permanent installations, a 16-foot creosoted pine pole is required. One hundred feet is maximum service length permitted without intermediate support being furnished and installed by customer. Where service crosses streets a higher support may be required to provide clearance. The customer should ask advice from company if in doubt.
   (B)   Weatherhead conduit (two inch minimum conduit).
   (C)   Cable with three feet, zero inch pigtails for connecting to utility power lines. Cable to be U.L. approved and suitable for service.
   (D)   Raintight fuse switch 60 ampere minimum.
   (E)   Two inch by four inch brace.
   (F)   One-half inch galvanized water pipe for ground.
   (G)   Galvanized wedge clamp.
   (H)   Three-fourths inch by eight feet, zero inches to ten feet, zero inches galvanized water pipe.
   (I)   Cable to trailer or service cable to be U.L. approved.
   Items to Be Furnished by City
   (J)   Triplex service drop.
   (K)   Meter socket base (installed by customer).
   (L)   Meter (installed by city).
   UNDERGROUND SERVICE
 
   Items Furnished, Installed and Owned by Customer
   1.   Conduit (rigid galvanized two-inch minimum).
   2.   Locknut two inches.
   3.   Two-inch conduit bushing.
   4.   Two-inch galvanized conduit hanger.
   5.   Lag screw.
   6.   Expansion shield.
   7.   Cable from customer’s disconnect to the meter socket.
   8.   Wedge type ground clamp (optional upon customer grounding).
   9.   Ground rod (optional upon customer grounding method).
   Items Furnished by City
   10.   Meter socket base (installed by customer).
   11.   Meter socket.
   12.   Cable from meter to transformer.
   TEMPORARY UNDERGROUND SERVICE
 
   Items Furnished by Customer
   (A)   Temporary service cable to be installed by customer to temporary meter location must be of an approved underground type without splices from pedestal to the meter. Maximum distance from pedestal is ten feet.
   (B)   Conduit two-inch minimum galvanized rigid.
   (C)   Raintight fuse switch 60 ampere minimum.
   (D)   Conduit and bonding locknuts.
   (E)   Raintight duplex receptacle.
   (F)   Four feet by four feet timber or equal.
   (G)   Two-inch by 12-inch board.
   (H)   One-half inch galvanized water pipe.
   (I)   Galvanized wedge clamp.
   (J)   Three-fourths inch by eight feet, zero inches to ten feet, zero inches galvanized water pipe.
