5-2-2: REMOVAL OF VEHICLE; NOTICE; DISPOSITION:
   A.   Notice To Remove: In the event any motor vehicle is left parked or standing by the owner or person having custody and control thereof on a public street for more than ten (10) consecutive days, then the law enforcement officer shall endeavor to locate the owner or person having custody and control of such vehicle, and notify such person in writing to remove such vehicle within twenty four (24) hours.
   B.   Failure To Remove; Removal By City: If the owner or person having custody and control of such vehicle does not remove such vehicle within twenty four (24) hours thereof, or if the owner or person having custody and control of said vehicle cannot be ascertained or found, then in either event, the law enforcement officer shall remove such vehicle from the public streets, store the same in a safe place and give written notice to the owner or person entitled to the custody and control of such vehicle to claim the same within ten (10) days by paying the costs of removal of the vehicle, together with any storage charges or other proper expenses.
   C.   Unclaimed Vehicles; Sale: If such vehicle is not claimed and such charges paid within said ten (10) day period, then the law enforcement officer shall offer such vehicle for sale at public auction, after giving five (5) days' notice of such sale by publishing notice in the official newspaper of the City in at least one issue of said paper. In the event such vehicle is purchased at such sale, then the law enforcement officer shall issue the purchaser such statement as will assist the purchaser in having such vehicle registered in the purchaser's name and the State.
