A. Department Established: There is hereby organized a fire department of the city to deliver the services appropriate to prevent and/or minimize the loss of life and property threatened by the hazards of fires, medical and rescue emergencies, hazardous materials incidents and disaster situations in our community. B. Officers And Personnel: The officers and employees/volunteers of the fire department shall consist of a fire chief, an assistant chief, and such other officers and members as shall be authorized by the mayor and city council. (Ord. 242, 8-12-2010; amd. 2015 Code)
C. Appointment: The fire chief and the assistant chief shall be appointed by the mayor, with the advice and consent of the city council. All other officers and employees of the department shall be appointed by the mayor with the advice and consent of the city council upon the recommendation of the fire chief. Volunteers shall be appointed by the fire chief or assistant fire chief without advice or consent of the mayor or city council. (Ord. 242, 8-12-2010)
