660.14  ADVERTISING ON STREETS.
   (a)   Except as otherwise provided in this section, no person shall place or affix any sign, poster or advertisement within the limits of the right of way of a public street. No person shall place an object that may obscure sight distance within such limits.
   (b)   Nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit the erection and maintenance of notices of the existence and location of public facilities under or upon such a street, warnings against disturbing such facilities or notices directing street users to emergency and public telephones. Nothing in this section shall be construed to prevent the Chief of Police from issuing approval for signs under Chapter 1262 if he or she deems such approval to be in the public interest.
   (c)   Whoever violates this section, or fails to obey a lawful order issued pursuant thereto, is guilty of a minor misdemeanor for each offense. A separate offense shall be deemed committed each day during or on which a violation or failure to obey occurs or continues. Punishment shall be as provided in Section 698.02.
