The K-9 Handler will have an opportunity to house and care for the retired K-9 animal. If the K-9 Handler is unwilling or unable to care for the retired K-9 animal, then the City Police Department shall, prior to retirement, find a suitable adoption service. The K-9 Supervisor shall oversee ensuring that the permanent placement of the K-9 is suitable shelter and care of the K-9 animal.
