8-1-9: TRACTION ENGINES; METAL TIRES:
No metal tired vehicles, including tractors, motor trucks, traction engines and other similar vehicles, shall be operated or drawn over any public street of the village which has been improved with a paved, macadam or oiled dirt surface, if such vehicle has on the periphery of any of the road wheels, any block, stud, flange, cleat, ridge, lug or any projection of metal or wood which projects radially beyond the tread or traffic surface of the tire excepting that this prohibition shall not apply to wagons, tractors or other vehicles of the track laying type when such track does not contain any projections of any kind likely to injure the surface of the street.
No vehicle, object or device of any kind or character which does, or is likely to, scarify, dig, plow up or produce holes in the surface of any street shall be used, operated or drawn over any public street in the village which has been improved with a paved, macadam or oiled dirt surface, excepting in the proper maintenance or construction of such street under authority from, and under the direction of the proper officers of the village.
