10-7-16: SPECIFICATIONS:
   A.   Materials: All house water services will meet American Waterworks Association (AWWA) standards.
   B.   Size Of Water Service: Any single-family house water service line shall not be less than three-fourths inch (3/4") in diameter. Some structures may require an engineer's determination of line size.
   C.   Trenching And Backfilling: All excavations shall be open trench work unless otherwise authorized by the director of public works. The foundation in the trench shall be formed to prevent any subsequent settlement of pipes. If the foundation is good, firm earth, the earth shall be pared or molded to give full support to the lower one-third (1/3) of each pipe. Bell holes shall be dug to provide ample space for pouring of joints. Care must be exercised in backfilling below centerline of the pipe in order to give it proper support. Backfill will be compacted in maximum two foot (2') lifts.
   D.   Notice Prior To Digging: Three (3) calendar days' notice is to be given to the director of public works or designated representative of town prior to digging. (Per motion dated 3-12-2009)
