10-3-4: SPECIFICATIONS:
   A.   Materials: All house sewers shall be constructed of schedule 40 PVC or any other material approved by the director of public works.
   B.   Joints: Joints will be glued or gaskets will be used.
   C.   Connections: Connections to the main collection sewer shall either be at established preexisting Ys installed upon construction or at a watertight saddle connection approved by the director of public works. The contractor doing the excavation will make the connection to the sewer.
   D.   Size Of Sewer: Any single-family sewer shall not be less than four inches (4") in diameter. All other structures may require an engineer's determination of line size.
   E.   Grades For House Sewers: Unless otherwise authorized, all house sewers shall have a grade of not less than one-eighth inch (1/8") per foot. A grade of one-fourth inch (1/4") per foot shall be used wherever practical.
   F.   Trenching And Backfilling: All excavations shall be open trench work unless otherwise authorized by the director of public works. The foundation in the trench shall be formed to prevent any subsequent settlement of pipes. If the foundation is good, firm earth, the earth shall be pared or molded to give full support to the lower one-third (1/3) of each pipe. Bell holes shall be dug to provide ample space for pouring of joints. Care must be exercised in backfilling below the centerline of the pipe in order to give it proper support. Backfill will be compacted in maximum two foot (2') lifts. Backfilling shall not be done until final inspection is made by the director of public works.
   G.   Grease Trap: Any businesses which have a large amount of grease, lubricants, flammable fluids, such as, but not limited to, gas stations, repair shops, restaurants, must install and keep in effective continual operation a grease trap which the town has the right to inspect during normal business hours.
   H.   Notice Prior To Digging: There will be three (3) calendar days' notice given to the public works department (or designee) prior to digging. (Per motion dated 3-12-2009)
