In the event the federal, state or local law, rules or regulations are amended, modified or created that have the effect of modifying the terms and conditions of this permit during the term or any extension thereof, the cable operator has the sole option to terminate this permit upon 90 days’ notice to the City. Nothing in this permit shall impair the right of the cable operator to terminate this permit and, at the cable operator’s option, negotiate a renewal or replacement franchise, license, consent, certificate or other authorization with any appropriate government entity (such as the state). To the extent that the cable operator lawfully obtains an authorization to operate a network and serve customers under applicable laws in lieu of this permit, the cable operator shall have the right to terminate this permit upon 90 days prior written notice to the City.
