6-14-2: RULES OF THE ROAD:
   A.   Every person operating an electric scooter upon a roadway at less than the normal speed of traffic at the time and place and under the conditions then existing shall ride as close as is safe to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway except in the following situations:
      1.   When over taking or passing a vehicle proceeding in the same direction;
      2.   When preparing for a left turn at an intersection, into a private road or driveway;
      3.   When reasonably necessary to avoid conditions and while exercising due care, including but not limited to fixed or moving objects, parked or moving vehicles, pedestrians or animals; surface hazards, or,
      4.   Anytime it is unsafe to continue along the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway; and when riding in the right turn only lane.
   B.   Any person riding an electric scooter upon a one-way street or highway with two or more marked lanes of travel may ride as close is safe to the left-hand curb or edge of the street or highway.
   C.    No person riding an electric scooter shall pass other vehicles between lanes of traffic traveling in the same direction.
   D.   No person riding an electric scooter upon a roadway shall ride more than two abreast except on paths or parts of roadways set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles or electric scooters. Persons riding two (2) abreast shall not impede the normal and reasonable flow of traffic, and, on a laned roadway shall ride in a single lane.
   E.   An electric scooter may only carry one (1) person on it.
   F.   Any person riding an electric scooter on a roadway shall wear a safety helmet. (Ord. 2021-02, 3-16-2021)
