1074.04 EMERGENCY BUILDING AND SITE ACCESS; KEY LOCK SYSTEMS.
   (a)   All buildings equipped with automatic fire alarm systems shall provide emergency building access. The alarm user will provide, at their costs, a key box or key switch. These shall be located pursuant to Fire Department direction. The alarm user shall provide a key for the key box that accesses the alarm and/or fire protection system controls as well as the bulk of the building. Buildings occupied and open to the public twenty-four hours per day, 365 days per year, and staffed by capable employees of the alarm user who are equipped with proper key access to the building, shall be exempt from the key box/key switch requirement.
   (b)   All buildings or complexes equipped with perimeter fencing shall provide at the owner's cost, a key box (with key) or key switch that provides access through a gate or gates as directed by the Fire Department. All private, gated communities of a commercial and/or residential nature shall be included in this requirement.
