(a) The purpose of this chapter is to protect the emergency services of the Police and Fire Departments of the City of Englewood from misuse, by responding to defective alarm systems, excessive false alarms and nuisance 9-1-1 telephone calls. This chapter also provides for quick access into buildings and/or facilities by providing a common key box/key switch program.
(b) This chapter governs alarm systems, gated communities, alarm users, telephone subscribers with access to emergency 9-1-1 services and businesses that provide on-premises public pay telephone services. It provides for penalties for violations and penalties for excessive false alarms.
