A permit for connection to the water or sewer system, when issued by the Director of Finance, shall be valid for the property for which application was made, provided, however, that such connection shall be made within six months from the date of issuance. If such connection is not made within six months, the property owner shall apply to the Department of Finance within thirty days of the expiration of the permit for renewal of the connection permit. Such permit renewal shall be issued by the Director, provided that the owner pays to the City a fee for renewal of the permit in the amount of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) plus an amount equal to any increase in the fees or charges required for such permit, and provided, further, that if the owner was ordered to connect his or her property to and use the sewer system by the Montgomery County Combined General Health District before expiration of the original permit, the charge for renewal of a sewer permit shall then be equal to the charge current at the time of such order.
The renewal of a permit for connection to the water system, when issued by the Director, shall be valid for the property for which original application was made, provided, however, that the connection permitted is made within six months of the date of issuance. However, if the connection permitted in such renewal is not made within six months of the date of issuance, then provisions of this section for renewal of original permits shall apply.
Unused water and sewer connection permits which are not renewed as provided herein shall be void and the permit fees paid to the City shall be refunded to the applicant less an administrative charge of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for each expired permit.
No permit shall be renewed for connection to a property on which the owner permits the continuation of any violations of City ordinances or regulations pertaining to buildings, zoning, sewage, water or health matters.
