(a) In the event of an emergency and upon the request of the County Sheriff's Office by the highest ranking officer of that office on duty at the time of such emergency, the Department of Police is hereby authorized to provide police assistance to the County Sheriff's Office upon the authorization of the highest ranking officer of the Department on duty at the time that such request is made.
(b) Police manpower and equipment may be recalled from such an emergency at the sole discretion of the highest ranking officer of the Department on duty at the time that such equipment and/or manpower is provided.
