8-4-1: DETAINMENT OR DESTRUCTION OF LIBRARY PROPERTY 1 :
   A.   Any person who wilfully detains any book, newspaper, magazine, pamphlet, manuscript, filmstrip, videotape, audiotape or other property of the public library or reading room for more than thirty (30) days after receipt of written notice demanding the return of any such article or property shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00).
   B.   Any person who wilfully cuts, tears, defaces, breaks or injures any book, map, videotape, audiotape, newspaper, magazine, pamphlet, manuscript, chart, picture, engraving, statue, coin, model, apparatus or other work of literature, art, mechanics or object of curiosity deposited in the public library or reading room or other property of the public library or reading room shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00).
   C.   The parent or guardian of a minor who wilfully and maliciously commits any acts within the scope of subsection A or B of this section is liable for all damages so caused by the minor. (Ord. 607, 7-6-2005)
