A. Appointment; Removal: The mayor shall have the power to appoint by and with the consent of the city council, a competent person to the position of sexton of the cemetery, who shall hold such position during the pleasure of the mayor and city council, being subject to removal at any time, with or without cause. B. Compensation: The compensation of the sexton shall be such sum as may be determined from time to time by the city council to be reasonable for their services. (Prior code § 6-3)
C. Duties: It shall be the duty of the sexton to care for the cemetery and improve the grounds thereof, subject to the orders of the city council, to dig or cause to be dug all graves required for the burial of the dead therein and to perform such other duties as the city council may require.
