§ 92.50 INSTALLATION.
   (A)   Governing specifications. The installation of all roadside mailboxes shall conform to the specifications established by the United States Postmaster General (US PG), as amended from time to time, in addition to the requirements contained herein. In the event there is any inconsistency between the specifications established by the US PG and this subchapter, the more restrictive language shall govern the installation of all roadside mailboxes.
   (B)   Placement. Mailboxes shall be mounted in such a manner that the mailbox door is at least six inches recessed from the back of the curb or 24 inches from the edge of pavement on roadways without curbs, at a height of 42 inches. No portion of the box or structure shall be closer to the roadway than indicated herein. Mailboxes shall only be installed on the side of the street designated by the local post office.
   (C)   Cul-de-sacs. Mailboxes shall not be installed within the radius of a cul-de-sac. Mailboxes servicing lots fronting on the radius of a cul-de-sac shall be placed at the entrance to the cul-de-sac, the location to be approved by the local Post Master and the Public Works Director or his or her designee.
   (D)   Mounting posts. The following specifications are advisory; however, residents are encouraged to adhere to these guidelines in mounting roadside mailboxes, since smaller or less substantial (decorative posts) are subject to damage:
