§ 75.27 RECORD SEARCHES.
   When the identity of the owner of a vehicle is not known by the police officer authorizing the impoundment and towing of the vehicle, the Police Department will cause:
   (A)   The vehicle registration records of the State of Illinois to be searched by the Secretary of State for the purpose of obtaining the required ownership information; and
   (B)   The stolen motor vehicle files of the State Police and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) files to be searched by a directed communication to the state police for stolen or wanted information on the vehicle.
