(A) No member of the Department shall receive for his or her own benefit or share in any present, gift or emolument for police services of any nature. All rewards, gifts, emoluments or gratuities shall be turned over to the corporate authorities. Reasonable, indiscriminate gifts upon occasion and with the knowledge of the Chief of Police may be distributed to the employees.
(B) Notwithstanding the foregoing, a person receiving a reward for a distinguished act may retain the reward with the approval of the corporate authorities.
