17-32: SPECIAL PERMITS; TRUCKS:
When it becomes necessary to use any thoroughfare not designated as a truck route in the manner described, or to transport loads in excess of the city or state limitations on height, weight or width on any thoroughfare within the corporate limits of the city, application shall be made to the chief of police or acting chief of police of the city, who may grant permission by issuance of a special permit for the movement of such oversized vehicles or oversized loads under his/her supervision for a period not to exceed seven (7) days. In cases where great hardship otherwise would be incurred, the city council may issue special permits for use of any thoroughfare not designated as a truck route in the manner described or to transport loads in excess of the limitations herein. The council may grant permission for the movement of such vehicles for a period not to exceed one year. (Ord. 84-216 § 1, 4-9-1984)
