Pretreatment of industrial wastes from major contributing industries prior to discharge to the treatment works is required and is subject to the rules and regulations, adopted by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and published in the Federal Register on November 8, 1973 (38 F.R. 30982) Federal Guidelines dated October, 1973, in addition to any more stringent requirements established by the town, and any subsequent federal guidelines and rules and regulations.
