§ 50.20  MAINTENANCE OF SERVICE LINE.
   (A)   After a service line has been connected into the conduit water main and connections have been approved by the Water Superintendent, it shall become the ownership/responsibility of the waterworks to service, maintain and make necessary repairs to the service line from its connection with the conduit water main up to the final fitting outside of the meter pit (property line/customer side of meter pit). However, any damages caused to the meter pit, meter lids, meter, meter setter, meter radio reader, other than damage caused by the town or its agents or employees or by normal wear and tear, shall be chargeable to the customer/home or business owner and the cost and expense of repairing the damage shall be paid by the customer/home or business owner.
   (B)   The service line from the final fitting outside meter pit (property line/customer side) to the home/business end point; it shall be the responsibility of the home/business owner to service, maintain and make necessary repairs to the service line from the final fitting to its point of use. Any damage to the portion of the service line running from the final fitting to its point of use shall be immediately repaired by the home/business owner. All repairs shall be inspected and approved by the Superintendent.
   (C)   If customer believes their meter is defective and wants it tested to see, the town will send it in to a certified water meter tester. If meter comes back with no defects, the customer will be responsible for the cost of testing. If the meter is defective, the town will cover the cost and give credit to the customer.
