(A) All persons hired as village police officers from and after the effective date of this section shall reimburse the village for all costs and expenses of outfitting and training the police officer incurred by the village during the police officer’s employment by the village, in the event the police officer’s employment by the village terminates for any reason during the first 12 months after appointment.
(B) Any police officer subject to reimbursing the village for costs of outfitting under this section shall not be required to reimburse the village for the costs of any item used to outfit the police officer which may be readily reused to outfit another police officer in the judgment of the Chief of Police.
