§ 31.24  VILLAGE MAGISTRATE.
The Magistrate of the Mayor’s Court shall serve two evenings per month, pursuant to the following conditions:
   (A)   The compensation paid to the Magistrate shall be an amount per year to be set by Council from time to time, payable in monthly installments.
   (B)   The Magistrate shall be eligible, at own expense, to participate in the Village of Elmwood Place medical/hospitalization group health insurance plan at any level he or she chooses, i.e., individual or family, effective at a date according to appointment.  In the event the Magistrate chooses to participate in the Village of Elmwood Place medical/hospitalization group health insurance plan, then the monthly compensation installments referred to in division (A) above shall be applied directly toward payment of the premiums charged on behalf of the Magistrate.  Should the premiums for the health insurance exceed the amount of the monthly compensation paid to the Magistrate, the Magistrate shall pay the difference each month in order to remain as a participant in the plan.
   (C)   In the event the Magistrate is unable to attend a regular Mayor’s Court session, the Magistrate shall provide a qualified substitute, at the Magistrate’s expense.
   (D)   The cost of the continuing education courses required by the Ohio Supreme Court in order for the Magistrate to conduct Mayor’s Court, shall be paid by the Village of Elmwood Place.
